Prof. Helena Čapková (online) will give a lecture reflecting on the work of Czech-American architect Antonin Raymond and the features and significance of Nanzan University's design and architecture (the overall campus design philosophy and specific buildings such as classrooms, library, grounds, etc.) in the history of architecture/aesthetics. The talk will followed by a discussion with commentators and Q&A.

Speaker: Helena Čapková (Ritsumeikan University, online)

Helena Čapková is an Associate Professor of Art History at Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto. She has published extensively on the transnational entanglements and intersections between Czech and Japanese designers in the early part of the 20th century. Her curatorial practice has resulted in exhibitions in Japan, the US and Czech Republic, including “Bedřich Feuerstein, Architect: Prague – Paris – Tokyo" (National Technical Museum, 2021-2022).
