From May to August of 2001 the author traveled around Latin America, capping a years sabbatical in Barcelona, Spain, with a series of lectures on Japanese philosophy and the borderlands of Buddhist and Christian thought. A complete list of lectures and their venues is included in “Academic Contributions of Members” later in this issue (pages 66-69). What follows is a personal report on those travels.
