Specialization: Christianity, Intercultural philosophy, Kyoto school, patristics

I am a PhD candidate affiliated with the University of Antwerpen, Belgium. My research focusses on exploring the boundary between theology and philosophy. I am interested in reformulating Christianity's sacramental understanding of reality within the context of an encounter between modern philosophy, patristic theology and intercultural thinking (in particular the Kyoto School). Ancient Greek philosophy gave Christianity the conceptual language to articulate its understanding of transcendence. But is Greek thought adequate to give a similar account of immanence? In order to understand the central mysteries of Christianity—the incarnation and the eucharist—we need a balanced account of both transcendence and immanence. Currently, I am exploring the possibility whether Nishida Kitarō's reading of Greek philosophy can point us in the right direction.
