Specialization: Jewish philosophy; phenomenology of religion
Recent PhD graduate (Philosophy, Religious Studies track), School of Philosophy, Fudan University, 2026.
My research examines how religious law can disclose the structure of inner experience. My dissertation reconstructs Joseph B. Soloveitchik’s method as a “halakhic phenomenology,” drawing on Marburg Neo-Kantianism and Scheler. Through this method, consciousness is reconstructed from its objectified legal forms. Applying this method to repentance (teshuvah), I argue that repentance is an intrinsic aspect of intentionality, not an occasional emotion.
