Specialization: Buddhist Thought, Modern Japanese Buddhism, American Buddhism
One of the main subjects of my research is Zen and Pure Land philosophy by D.T. Suzuki, who was leading figure in the establishment of Zen in the West. The other is the philosophy of Nyogen Senzaki, who was engaged in Zen missionary work on the West Coast of the United States for about half a century. I also research the network of Shaku Soyen's disciples in general, which includes Suzuki and Senzaki.
